Today (4th March) your child will receive notices for the following:
ICAS Competitions (run by the University of New South Wales, Australia)
Science, Mathematics, English, Spelling, Writing, Computer Skills. There is a separate competition for each year from Yr 4 -6. These competition examinations are open to those students whose parents decide, on reflection, that their children wold benefit from the chance to try their hand at the tests. Children need not sit these examinations. Some may find their child's self esteem may benefit from the experience, others may find it distressing or worrying. Each year the University provides papers that cater for a wide range of student abilities, while still providing a challenge for very able students. The staff ask that you give serious thought to your child's welfare and decide accordingly.
AMC Maths (run by University of Canberra, Australia)
This competition has 4 levels of awards,- high distinction, credit and proficiency, plus a participation certificate for those not receiving an award. It provides a good Maths Challenge for students, and we recommend that students sitting ICAS Maths also sit AMC Maths.
